With the goal of making Florida number one in rooftop solar, the Community Power Network (CPN) and the Florida League of Women Voters (the League) have teamed up to launch Florida Solar United Neighborhoods (FL-SUN). This non-profit program will help communities learn about and affordably participate in solar by using the principle of volume purchasing and competitive bidding to achieve substantial discounts as high as 25% for the average participant.
This new cooperative approach will use best practices that are currently working in five other states, designed to help everyday citizens get significant discounts for solar energy while educating citizens about the potential to reduce utility bills. Experts are convinced that Florida has the potential to be among the top three solar-producing states in the nation.
The Upper Keys League of Women Voters is working closely with the State organization to get an informational meeting in Key Largo before the end of the year. Stay tuned for more information!
